Teaching Mosaic Art
Learning the art of mosaic means to acquire the knowledge of past and present creation formulas, becoming familiar with natural and artificial materials, wondering in the realm of mosaic history, in order to let your hand follow your creativity and sense, until your own sensitivity is refined, until you acknowledge your own style.
Mosaics we assign to our students are selected according to particular educational programs aiming at the comprehension and acquisition of mosaic art formal language. Mosaic formal language is perceived through the swingings of light, subject stylisation or semplification, vibrating surfaces, and to all these aspects the tactile and visual effects of the materials used should be added.
The essential and practical approach to fundamentals rules, materials and tools of mosaic, represents only a step of the whole teaching plan: the essence and the history of mosaic involve numberless creative possibilities and solutions that make this artistic technique an ever changing formal language.
Different methods and composition techniques - Roman, Byzantine, modern - combined with lots of materials of different hardness and resistance, give rhythm and harmony both to canonic compositions and to free-style compositions where order and confusion are mixed in perfect synergy.
The educational project of mosaic School of Spilimbergo features two types of courses.
Mosaic Artist Certificate granted after 3 years during which young students learn the profession of the terracer and mosaicist, acquiring those technical and cultural skills which allows him/her to become a professional and to apply for a job. The Certificate is granted after a final examination and gives students a recognised professional qualification.
Mosaic Fundamentals, summer courses, 50 hours, for people of different age. Participants will learn the fundamental techniques of mosaic art and how to create little mosaics. An Attendance Certificate will be given to participants.
