GALLERY

The Gallery of Scuola Mosaicisti Friuli has exhibited to more than 25,000 of world wide visitors, every year, the most interesting artworks featuring the mosaic techniques and themes of every art history. The exhibition is structured chronologically and covers all the history of mosaic: from the Mediterranean origins of Greek-Roman mosaic, to the precious surfaces of Byzantine mosaic, until the expressions, generated by the artistic research and experimentation, of contemporary mosaic.

Presenting all the various applications of this millennial technique, the gallery develops on two floors: at the ground floor and at the elevated floor are located the three sections based on the mosaic school program of 1st, 2nd, 3rd year. At the firs floor, instead, two sections are exposed: one is dedicated to the contemporary mosaic artworks and the other is dedicated to the artists of the region Friuli Venezia Giulia.

The classrooms and the laboratories should be visited to breath the peculiar atmosphere and the rituals of making a mosaic artwork; these are the places where the whole creative mosaic knowledge, skills and wit, documented by this gallery, is taught, creatively studied, elaborated and brought to life.

An archive, a library and a meeting room are also useful to study in depth or find out ideas and clues about the history of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli and to the mosaic in general.
